Satire Example: RESPECT

Dear Lord! All you students are walking around this campus looking like hoodlums. Whatever happened to leading the Bullis way? These uniforms look absurd. Short skirts, un-tucked shirts, an assortment of jackets and quarter zips.!? What is this community coming to? As of now it’s a hot mess. Now that the school year is half over, it is time we crack down on the rules. Ladies, dress yourselves in an appropriate manner or you’ll receive a comportment form without notice via email. Four inches, and four inches only. If you all keep it up, skirts will be removed from the uniform and you will be subject to pants—khaki and gray pants. These pants must be Bullis appropriate containing no rivets and external pockets as well. rivets make the pants casual and jean like, and that is not apart of the Bullis way. Speaking of pants, all shirts must be tucked into the students’ bottoms and not covered by an unsightly non-Bullis quarter zip. Have some school spirit and purchase an overpriced quarter zip fleece from the school store. That is all that is uniform now any way. The uniform infractions have become too much, and we the faculty cannot bare. Where is the respect for crying out loud? While on the Bullis campus, lead the Bullis way by being in proper uniform and arriving to classes promptly!

Is Drake Taking Care?

Drake's shophomore album, "Take Care," dropped November 15, 2011 and has been dominating the radio waves since then. Following the success of his first album "Thank Me Later," Drake set out to produce another great album. Although "Thank Me Later" sold well, Drake admits to the album being rushed. In producing "Take Care," Drake spent all the necessary time in perfecting the album.
Many have said that Drake has become "soft" because of the albums track listing, but the fail to realize that Drake has never been categorized as a hardcore rapper nor does he try to be a gangster rapper. Drake set his tone with his mixtape "So Far Gone." In that mixtape, Drake established himself as an artist capable of rapping as well as singing. He has never been afraid to make sentimental music. "Take Care" is not a "sweet"album. Drake likes to cater to his female fans and did so very well with this album.
Drake's "Take Care" is a twenty-track album lasting about an hour and twenty minutes long. It features some iconic names including Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Stevie Wonder, Andre 3000, and Rick Ross. The album also features two fairly new artists, Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd. As if all these features aren't enough, Drake throws it back on his song "Cameras/Good Ones Go Interlude" by sampling Jon B's "Calling on You."
"Take Care" is dominating the radio waves with singles, "Marvin's Room," "Take Care," and "Headlines." For those who like those singles, I definitely urge you to pick up the album. Drake opens up the album with slow jams "Over My Dead Body" and "Shot for Me." Ladies as well as the males will love these songs. Further along in the album Drake ups the mood with "Make Me Proud" and "Lord Knows." Drake then rounds out the album with club banger "The Motto."
Drake's "Take Care" is an ultimate hit. The variety of the tracks make it so that the album never gets old. On the album, there is a song that can cater to any and every mood you have have. Drake definitely took care of himself as well as his fans with this one.

Sample Movie Review

Here is the link to a review for the new movie, 'The Vow' featuring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. While CinemaBlend seems to bash the movie for being too sentimental, I loved it.

Litas Galore

One might ask "What's a Lita?" Well, what isn't a Lita?
Jeffrey Campbell's "Litas" are making a statement in the fashion world and across the country! These funky shoes are making their way from the fashion-forward streets of Los Angeles to the mere halls of Bullis. Litas are trendy supercool shoes with a 5 inch wooden heel and 2 inch platform. Litas also come in all different colors, fabrics, and patters. The black Litas are classic and quite popular, but the nude and glitter Litas are also a fan-favorite. Litas rank in around a staggering $160 per pair, but are so worth every dime. Jeffrey Campbell's Litas cannot be purchased but carries include SOLESTRUCK, Karmaloop, Lulu's, Mod Cloth, Nasty Gal, Free People, South Moon Under, Nordstrom, and Urban Outfitters.
This sassy ankle boot was inspired by 1970's sass and named by an Campbell LA executive officer. The shoe was named "Lita" after Lita Ford, a member of the 70's band The Runaways.
Litas have reached the Bullis scene through to fashionistas, Joelle Meriwether ('12) and Nadia Fallahi ('11). Each of these ladies have worked the Lita flawlessly with hip outfits. They love to dress with attitude, and the Lita is a perfect accessory. "My Litas are my go to shoes when I feel I need a quick fashion pick me up, but literally I'm 6'3 when I wear them," exclaims Bullis senior, Joelle. These fashionistas aren't afraid to make a statement and choose the Lita as an accomplice. Are you willing to take the challenge and indulge in a Lita purchase?
Who knows, maybe the Lita will soon be a part of Bullis uniform, or maybe I'm just wishfully thinking.

Cracking Down

Uniform infractions. Tardiness. Social networking- violations many more Bullis students are getting detentions for.
Teachers are starting to strictly enforce the rules creating a harsh backlash from the student population. The faculty believes that order has to be restored within the Bullis halls. Teachers feel that theres a lack of respect within the student-teacher relationships. Many students believe that this is outrageous because it seems like its coming "out of the blue."Students feel like the rules have been relaxed for a while, so this sudden implementation of rules is shocking almost everyone. Some of the infractions can be seen as "petty" but the faculty believe their authority is defied through rule infringements.
Even the nature of detention has changed. Instead of just sitting in a classroom and doing homework, students in detention now have to either clean busses or the lunchroom. Does this have higher or an equal affect on the student? Would this help them better "learn their lesson." I guess these are question that will be answered in the coming weeks.
So kids, watch what you say, watch what you wear, watch what you type, and watch the clock. Dention awaits you.

Whitney Houston- A Fallen Star

On February 12, 2012, the world of music lost an amazing pioneer. At the age of 48, Whitney Houston passed away. She was found submerged in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel suite. While the cause of Whitney's death remains unknown, many speculate its relevance to her substance abuse. The public will remain in the dark on this controversy, as the Los Angeles coroner's office refuse to release information at this time.
Not only is Whitney's family grieving at this time, but her daughter Bobbi Kristina has been going through health issues since her mother's death. The 18 year old has been hospitalized twice for allegedly consuming alcohol and sedatives.
In this time of sorrow, the public is taking a reminiscent approach to Whitney Houston's death. Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to her idol singing Whitney Houston's hit "I Will Always Love You."Her performance was touching and reminded the audience of Whitney's wonderful musicality. She has inspired countless artists, and will remain an influence on the R&B and Pop community. Whitney Houston will always be a star in the eyes of her many fans.
